How People React When You Speak A New Language
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day out there, even the people that don’t think learning languages is cool. We need the monolingual people to make us look good when we are speaking multiple languages. This will be a short post on the reactions you will receive from native speakers when you are learning and practicing a new language.
You have been practicing for a month or two, and you’ve decided to venture out into the wild. Let me share with you my experience of how people react when you start using your new language.
The majority of the time people will notice your broken Spanish, and will immediately look at you in disgust, spitting on your shoes before they walk away. Just kidding… No, what you will usually experience is a friendly helpful person, that listens and tries to help facilitate an understanding. Then toward the end of your conversation they will tell you how well you speak their language, even though you know you sound like a 3 year old child trying to explain how Bitcoin works. People appreciate when you make an attempt to learn their language; learning their language is learning about their culture.
Be brave, get out into the real world, start practicing and using your new language! People are more accepting and helpful than we realize.

Cómo Reacciona La Gente Cuando Habla Un Idioma Nuevo
Espero que todos estén teniendo un excelente día, incluso las personas que no piensen que aprender lenguajes sea chévere. Necesitamos a la gente monolingüe para que nos haga lucir bien cuando estemos hablando diferentes idiomas. Este va a ser un post corto sobre las reacciones que vas a recibir de hablantes nativos cuando estés aprendiendo y practicando nuevos lenguajes.
Has estado practicando por un mes o dos, y has decidido aventurarte en lo salvaje. Déjame compartir contigo mi experiencia en cómo reacciona la gente cuando empiezas a usar tu nueva lengua.
La mayoría del tiempo la gente va a darse cuenta de tu Español chapurreado (hablar mal o con dificultad), van a verte inmediatamente con asco, escupiendo tus zapatos antes de irse. Solo bromeo… No, lo que vas a experimentar con más frecuencia es una persona amigable y servicial, que escucha e intenta ayudarte a facilitar el aprendizaje. Entonces al final de su conversación ellos van a decirte lo bien que hablaste su lenguaje, aunque tú sabes que sonaste como un niño de tres años tratando de explicar como funcionan los Bitcoins. Las personas aprecian cuando haces un intento de aprender su idioma; aprender su idioma es aprender sobre su cultura.
¡Sé valiente, sal al mundo, empieza a practicar y a usar tu nuevo idioma! Las personas son más aceptantes y serviciales de lo que imaginamos.
